Discovering a gap in the market for a one-stop-shop providing technical expertise in all areas of food and fresh produce, Richard Binks founded FreshTec in 2012.  Richard brings to FreshTec over 20 years' industry experience and expertise as well as a breadth of innovative ideas to help strengthen his clients' business.

The FreshTec philosophy is 'to consistently deliver added value, high quality and professional technical consultancy to the global food and fresh produce market'.

"It's now widely accepted that any food and fresh produce business with a technical edge will not only better meet their legal requirements but also benefit from enhanced customer confidence, improved quality and the likelihood of increased profitability."

Richard Binks

Richard entered the world of commercial farming at 16, gaining valuable 'grassroots' knowledge of arable farming and an insight into the technical issues faced by farmers while working at an agricultural testing laboratory near Leeds.

At 21, Richard moved into academia, studying applied biology and crop protection before earning a PhD in Tropical Agriculture from Reading University.

His working career includes spells at ADAS, Mack Multiples (with two years living in Southern Spain and working in the Spanish vegetable and salad industry), Bedfordshire Growers and the Greenery.  During this time, he gained experience in every sector of the food chain from farming to retail.

Throughout his career, Richard has played an active role in industry applied research projects as well getting involved with applied grower groups.  This continues today through his involvement with the Vegetable Consultancy Association.
